Region Calendar 2024 – As Cultural Manager during its designation as Region of Culture 2024, I conceptualized and led the development of a curated annual calendar that celebrates the region’s rich cultural fabric. This project spotlighted twelve local artists and artisans—each representing one of the region’s 12 localities—through professional photography and storytelling. The result was a visually striking and culturally significant calendar that served as a year-long artistic showcase. My role encompassed the overall creative direction, artist selection, coordination of photography and content, and managing the production and regional distribution of the calendar across all local councils. Each month was dedicated to a different artisan or tradesperson: a baker, ceramicist, sculptor, religious statue maker, carpenter, ganutell artisan, festive pavilion designer, fireworks specialist, fisherman, filigree maker, stained glass artist, and ceramic figurine craftsman. These trades, many of which are at risk of fading, form an essential part of Malta’s cultural heritage. Beyond visual presentation, the calendar included a programming element, with events such as artist talks, demonstrations, and community workshops aligned to the featured craft each month. This initiative not only celebrated artistic excellence but also fostered intergenerational appreciation and inspired youth to engage with traditional practices. The project underscores my commitment to preserving and revitalizing artisanal knowledge, ensuring that these invaluable skills continue to thrive in contemporary society.

Magna Zmien Launch - June 2018 My role was pivotal in bridging the Magna Żmien initiative with local organizations, ensuring a successful launch and fostering community engagement. I worked closely with the Mellieħa Local Council and the Imperial Band Club to integrate the event into the community's cultural fabric. The Mellieħa Local Council provided essential support in organizing the event at Misraħ iż-Żjara tal-Papa Ġwanni Pawlu II, while the Imperial Band Club contributed by sharing their rich musical heritage and archival materials, enhancing the project's depth and authenticity. A significant aspect of the project involved collecting and digitizing personal and communal memories. The Imperial Band Club's archives, including photographs and recordings, were invaluable in this endeavor. Their contributions not only preserved Mellieħa's musical legacy but also enriched the Magna Żmien archive, making these memories accessible to a broader audience. The event featured a time-machine performance by 'Armchair Voyager Wistin and the Banda ta’ Memorji Meraviljużi', a live sound and video installation by Timothy Garrett and Tiny Island Studio, and a short film programme curated by Solar Cinema. These performances, rooted in the collected memories, resonated deeply with attendees, fostering a sense of nostalgia and community pride. The collaboration between Magna Żmien, the Mellieħa Local Council, and the Imperial Band Club exemplified the power of community partnerships in cultural preservation. The event not only celebrated Mellieħa's rich heritage but also ensured that these memories would be preserved for future generations. The project went on to win the Premju ghall-Arti in 2019

Sentieri #5 - April 2018 As regional coordinator for the site-specific performance “Geography: A Track Around Disorientation”, part of Altofest Malta during Valletta 2018, I played a vital role in bridging the artistic vision with the realities of the site and local context. The project took place in a protected natural area, requiring in-depth research into the site’s ecological significance and coordination with park rangers to ensure the landscape was respected and carefully preserved throughout the process. My responsibilities included not only logistical and environmental coordination but also supporting the directors, Serena and Raffaele, by facilitating local connections, sourcing specific materials required for the performance, and helping to adapt their conceptual framework to the physical and cultural environment of the site. I connected the artistic team with key local stakeholders, including environmental authorities, material suppliers, and community contacts, enabling the smooth development of this immersive and reflective work. The performance invited audiences to rediscover the land through movement and presence, while my role ensured that both artistic integrity and environmental consciousness guided every step of the journey.

Extrapolation Factory - February 2017 A multi-day speculative visioning event inviting the Maltese population to develop ideas for speculative programmes the EU could launch in the future. We were hosted by Time's Up Linz and it was held in February 2017 in Malta at The Grand Master's Palace, Valletta and MCAST Mosta. The project is part of the cultural program of the 2017 Maltese Presidency of the Council of the European Union with the support of Arts Council Malta and the Valletta 2018 Foundation. For this project, I was the Regional Coordinator for the North Region at Valletta 2018 Foundation

Spazji Teatrali - March 2017 Theatre Spaces in Malta and Gozo: A Preliminary Catalogue. A study focused mainly on spaces with a history of performance within their walls, and are/were recognised as theatres by the community at large. It also includes a few schools, many of which allow their premises to be used by the community. I was the Regional Coordinator for the Central and North Regions for this project.

Subjective Maps - March 2018 As the regional coordinator and cultural manager for the Subjective Maps project in St Paul’s Bay, I played a central role in building meaningful connections between the project team and the town’s richly diverse communities. Collaborating closely with the Qawra LEAP Centre, we engaged local residents—many of whom are long-time contributors to social initiatives—in the storytelling workshops, ensuring that underrepresented voices were heard and valued. I also coordinated with the youths of Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, whose creative energy brought the project to life through a vibrant mural that visually interpreted the stories and landmarks mapped during the sessions. This mural became both a celebration of local identity and a testament to the power of youth-driven expression. Through these collaborations, we produced a map that reflects not only the physical geography of St Paul’s Bay but also its emotional landscapes—marked by memory, migration, and community resilience.

Altofest - North April 2018 I was entrusted with the unique and deeply human task of bridging artists with citizens—matching international performers with local residents willing to transform their homes into intimate performance venues. My role involved extensive community outreach to identify individuals who would embrace the ethos of the festival: experimental sociality through contemporary live art. I then worked closely with the producers to curate meaningful matches between hosts and artists, ensuring each home was not only a physical space but also a site of dialogue, transformation, and shared experience. The response from the community was extraordinary. What began as a call for a handful of participants quickly grew into one of the largest Altofest editions on the island, resulting in a weekend-long programme of performances across Rabat and Majjistral, and a powerful cultural moment for the North of Malta. Citizens became cultural heroes—a term central to Altofest’s philosophy—as they opened their homes and lives to the unknown, co-creating space for new rituals, encounters, and a legacy of trust between community and contemporary art.

Sentieri | Azul Teatro at Majjistral Park - April 2018 I have to mention this most unforgettable moment was when the Imperial Band Club performed traditional Maltese tunes with a 40-strong band in this very space—a powerful gesture that united nature, music, and memory. It held special meaning for me personally, as my own grandfather had once played with the band, making the moment not just a cultural milestone, but a deeply emotional one. It was a celebration of community spirit, intergenerational connection, and the magic of bringing music and art to life in an unexpected place.

Solar Cinema Summer 2018 As the regional coordinator for the Northern region during Valletta 2018, I was instrumental in bringing Solar Cinema—an innovative, solar-powered, eco-conscious cinema initiative—to some of Malta’s most breathtaking northern locations. Recognising the project's potential to combine sustainable technology with accessible cultural programming, I advocated for Solar Cinema to become a key protagonist in the North’s cultural calendar. Through my coordination, screenings were successfully hosted in Majjistral Nature and History Park, Selmun, Mdina and other remote open-air settings, each chosen to maximise public engagement while respecting the natural environment. I liaised with local councils, NGOs, and community stakeholders to secure locations, organise logistics, and promote the events. These efforts resulted in large audience turnouts and highly positive public reception, with many attendees experiencing environmentally sustainable film screenings for the first time. The project not only delivered high-quality international cinema but also demonstrated how culture can thrive in harmony with nature, setting a precedent for future green cultural initiatives in Malta.

Figure It Out - September 2024 Figure It Out – As Project Manager for this initiative by Unfinished Art Space, co-funded by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme, I played a hands-on role in the successful delivery of both the exhibition and symposium. The project was also supported by the NGO Co-financing Scheme managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector, and the Conference Scheme of the Ministry for Finance and Employment. My responsibilities included coordinating technical requirements, sourcing suppliers, managing catering, and supporting the planning and execution of the public programme. Working closely with the curatorial team and project partners, I ensured smooth logistics and setup, contributing to the overall impact and professional delivery of the event.

Memento Mori - October 2016 Memento Mori – For this site-specific exhibition curated by Fragmenta Malta, I was responsible for arranging access and coordinating logistics for the first-ever contemporary art exhibition held inside the historic Għallis Coastal Tower. As Project Manager, I facilitated the necessary permissions and practical arrangements to activate this unique heritage site, supporting the curatorial vision with hands-on coordination of installation needs, site preparation, and artist support throughout the project.

Field Trip - January 2017 As Project Manager for this public art intervention by Fragmenta Malta, I facilitated the first-ever contemporary art activation within the operational space of the Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal. Collaborating with artists Sonya Schönberger and Christof Zwiener, I coordinated permissions, logistics, and on-site arrangements to enable the installation of audio works and spatial interventions in a live transit environment. My role involved liaising with terminal authorities, ensuring minimal disruption to public operations while supporting the artists’ conceptual goals. The project challenged perceptions of public space and identity through subtle yet impactful gestures, such as the labeling of seating areas with terms like “Resident,” “Tourist,” and “Foreigner” .

Hortus Conclusus – March 2016 As Regional Manager for this one-day site-specific exhibition by Fragmenta Malta, I coordinated the first contemporary art intervention to take place within the 17th-century cloisters of the Dominican Monastery in Rabat. My role involved securing permissions, managing logistics, and supporting artist Teresa Sciberras in the installation of a thoughtful, research-led work exploring themes of contemplation and enclosure. I also led outreach efforts to engage the local community and attract new audiences to this unique cultural experience, helping to activate an otherwise inaccessible heritage site through art. The event successfully opened up the cloister space for public reflection and dialogue around art, history, and sacred spaces.
